First published in 1884, Bhanu Singha Thakurer Padabali, is a collection of poems in Brajaboli written by Rabindranath Tagore in his teens. Deeply inspired by the Maithili poetry of writers such as Vidyapati, Tagore adopted the pen name Bhanu Singha, and used his precocious talents to write a series of poems on Radha and Krishna in the style of the medieval poets of India. Tagore dedicated the anthology to his sister-in-law, Kadambari Devi, who mentored him, but had passed away the year before the publication of this work. In keeping with a long tradition of fostering artistic endeavours by members of our communities, SIMA is delighted to present this production that brings together artists from Penn State, State College, Harrisburg and across the country.
This production is in memory of Mrs. Sukla Mahalanobis (1938-2015) on the 10th anniversary of her passing.
