Beyond the Table: Collective Bargaining in Action

March 20, 2025, from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., IAMMA is hosting a collective bargaining half-day session.

The workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the collective bargaining process from start to finish. Yvette Heintzleman of Clark Hill and Nicholas Garcia Lisle, of Flaherty & Hood, will be the labor contract superstars, providing the inside scoop on bargaining best practices.

Participants will explore technical aspects, tips for preparing for bargaining, and examples of policies and contracts that may help set a team up for successful negotiation. The session includes a mock bargaining exercise, allowing participants to gain perspective by representing either the union or administration. Designed for municipal staff who are new to bargaining, those seeking a refresher since their last negotiation, or, past bargaining unit members who are new to administration. The session will conclude with a group discussion to reflect on the experience and insights gained.
