An intensive and vigorous four-day workshop, where Wayne Boucher works one-on-one with artists, and in a group critique to provide a forum for constructive evaluation and progress.
The purpose of the workshop is to have the artists express an idea through a painting medium. The workshop involves approaches to painting and presentation, use of materials, tools, critical thinking, editing and processes of application in formulating meaning through paint.
The objective of the workshop through preliminary explorations, and studies is to create a responsive dialogue in bringing essential elements of signification and process into a final work.

Dates:
~ Friday, July 17 - Monday, July 20, 9am-4pm daily
What to Bring:
~ Participants should bring their own materials.
~ The workshop will focus on the use of oil sticks, but any painting medium will do.
~ Artists are encouraged to work in mediums they are familiar with.
~ Artists are requested to bring 8-10 canvases (landscape and square formats (i.e. 16” x 20” or 24” x 24”), and drawing papers to the workshop.

About the Artist:
Wayne was the recipient of the 2006 Nova Scotia Portia White Award for excellence, innovation, and expression in the arts. The recipient of numerous grants from provincial and federal agencies including a Canada Council Established Artist Grant in 2001, other key professional successes include winning the 2004 juried competition to execute the mural entitled Réveil for the new Interpretation Centre at Grand-Pré National Historic Site. Boucher became a member of the Royal Canadian Academy in 2002.
In 2012, Drowning in Colour (vimeo.com/71404777) was the first comprehensive documentary to be made about the Art of Wayne Boucher, and was directed and edited by Alan Collins. In 2014, three of his paintings were selected in a Foreign Affairs Canada design competition for meeting room carpets in the redecorated Nova Scotia Room, Pacific Room, and a Reception area at Canada House, London, UK.
