Chinese Film Festival Hamburg (CFFH) presents Beyond the Skies (云霄之上, Dir. LIU Zhihai, 2021) — part of CFFH's special CAA programme.

1935. Young Red Army soldier Hong Qichen receives his orders: destroy the enemy's ammunition depot within 48 hours. It is, in all likelihood, a death sentence. Gathering his wounded comrades through treacherous mountain terrain, he leads them against overwhelming odds — while confronting their anguished questioning of why they should give their lives at all, and watching as they fall, one by one. Rendered in the lyrical visual language of Chinese poetic cinema, the film transmutes brutality into poetry.

Winner of Best Feature Film, Best Actor, and Best Cinematography (Tiantan Award) at the 11th Beijing International Film Festival. Selected at the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival Gala and the 46th Toronto International Film Festival.

Followed by a Q&A in English.

汉堡华语影像展（CFFH）呈现《云霄之上》（导演：刘智海，2021）——CFFH · CAA特别单元。

1935年，年轻的红军战士洪启辰接到军令：必须在48小时内炸毁敌人的弹药库。这是一条赴死的军令。他在危机四伏的群山里集结伤残战友，与敌人殊死搏斗，同时还要面对同泽们对于为何赴死的拷问，以及战友们相继倒下的困境。影片以中国诗性电影美学将残酷幻化为诗意，带领观者共同参与一次向死而生的旅程。

荣获第11届北京国际电影节天坛奖最佳影片、最佳男主角、最佳摄影三项大奖，并入围第24届上海国际电影节首映盛典单元、第46届多伦多国际电影节中国展映单元。
