Beyond the ethics form: Trust-based Civic Engagement in Practice
About this Event
Beyond the ethics form: Trust-based Civic Engagement in Practice
How do we move beyond “tick-box ethics” when working with communities and societal partners? In this interactive session, participants will explore real-world ethical dilemmas in civic engagement and engaged research, inspired by the policy brief Research Ethics Governance for an Engaged University: A Call for Institutional Experimentation at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Through discussion, reflection, and collaborative exercises, we will examine how ethics can become an ongoing, shared practice rather than a one-off review process. Together, we will explore practical approaches such as staged review, community ethics protocols, and ethics coaching to support more responsible, inclusive, and trust-based engagement.
Targeted participants: Early-career researchers/teachers and anyone interested in working with communities
