Ralph O. & Monona H. Nafziger Lecture Series presents:
About this Event

Join us for an evening with ESPN Radio host and UW–Madison alum Evan Cohen, who has spent more than two decades working across radio, television and sports media. As co-host of ESPN Radio’s signature morning show, “UNSPORTSMANLIKE”, Cohen brings a unique perspective on how stories are told, how audiences engage with media, and what it takes to build a career in an ever-changing industry.

Evening Agenda

  • 5:00 pm | Nafziger LectureBeyond the Broadcast: Storytelling, Sports, and the Evolution of Media
  • 6:00 pm | Q&A and Reception with Evan Cohen

From his beginnings at WSUM and internships with ABC, NBC Sports, WFAN and MSG Radio to national sports broadcasting roles with ESPN and SiriusXM, Cohen's career has taken him across virtually every corner of the sports media landscape. He has worked as a host, play-by-play commentator, sideline reporter, analyst and TV sports anchor, and has seen firsthand how the platforms and technologies used to tell stories continue to evolve.

In addition to his on-air career, he has been an integral part of Good Karma Sports since 2003. As Vice President of Content, he oversees the on-air product and content strategy across all of the company’s brands.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Good Karma Sports owns and operates stations across the country, including ESPN Madison and several other brands throughout Wisconsin. The company is committed to the continuous growth and success of its fans, teammates, and partners.

In this conversation, Evan will explore the importance of the medium, from connecting with audiences and adapting to new media formats to finding your voice and building a career in the industry. He’ll also reflect on his journey from student radio at UW–Madison to the national stage at ESPN.

The lecture will conclude with a Q&A and reception, giving students, alumni and guests the opportunity to engage directly with Cohen about sports media, storytelling, career development and the changing media landscape.
