BEYOND PAIN: THE BIOMECHANICS OF BREATH

Breathing Mechanics → Breath Mobility → Somatic Breathwork → Integration

Saturday, October 3 | 1:00–4:00 PM
Beometry Fitness Therapy & Coaching | Tacoma, WA

What if the way you breathe is influencing the way you move, feel, and experience your body?

Pain and discomfort can show up in many different ways. They can be influenced by posture, movement patterns, muscular tension, restricted mobility, and breathing mechanics.

At the same time, the body can also carry the effects of stress, emotional experiences, and nervous system patterns through areas of tension, guarding, and holding.

The breath offers a unique bridge between these experiences.

Join Isaac Ho and Jered Bailey for an educational and experiential workshop exploring the relationship between breath, posture, movement, mobility, pain, and the nervous system.

BREATHING MECHANICS & BREATH MOBILITY

The first half of the workshop will be led by Isaac Ho, exploring the biomechanics of breathing and developing a deeper understanding of how the breath influences the way the body moves and functions.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • The role of the diaphragm and rib cage in breathing
  • The mechanics of inhalation and exhalation
  • How breathing influences posture and muscular function
  • The relationship between the rib cage, spine, pelvis, and mobility
  • How breathing patterns can contribute to tension and movement compensations
  • The importance of three-dimensional rib cage movement
  • Practical ways to use breath to support mobility, posture, stability, and movement

Through hands-on breathing and movement practices, you’ll have the opportunity to experience these concepts within your own body not simply learn about them.

SOMATIC BREATHWORK & EMBODIMENT

Then, we move beyond biomechanics into a full guided somatic breathwork journey led by Jered Bailey.

Using conscious connected breathing, music, and guided somatic awareness, Jered will guide you into a deeper, more embodied experience of the breath.

The journey creates space to explore physical sensations, areas of tension or holding, and the ways stress and life experiences may be reflected in the body. Rather than trying to force a particular outcome, you’ll be invited to slow down, turn inward, listen to your body, and explore what the breath may reveal.

We’ll move through periods of activation, release, self connection, and relaxation, before closing with time for integration and reflection.

This is where we bridge the physiology of breathing with the lived experience of the body moving from understanding how the breath works to experiencing what the breath can reveal.

THIS EXPERIENCE IS FOR YOU IF:
  • You experience persistent tension, discomfort, or movement limitations
  • You want to better understand the relationship between breath, posture, and pain
  • You’re interested in improving mobility and movement mechanics
  • You work in fitness, health, wellness, or movement
  • You’re a personal trainer, coach, bodyworker, yoga teacher, or wellness practitioner
  • You’re interested in continuing education around breath and the body
  • You’re on your own health, fitness, or personal growth journey
  • You’re curious about the connection between physiological breathing and somatic breathwork

No previous breathwork experience is required.

WHAT TO BRING

For the somatic breathwork journey, participants will be lying on the floor for an extended period. Please bring items that help you feel comfortable, warm, and supported.

  • Yoga mat
  • Blankets for warmth and comfort
  • Small pillow or bolster for head or knee support
  • Water bottle
  • Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
  • Eye mask is optional, but recommended for deeper inward focus
  • Socks or warm layers

You’re also welcome to bring any additional comfort items that help you feel supported during a longer period of rest and stillness.

COME PREPARED TO:

Move. Learn. Breathe. Experience. Integrate.

This is more than a lecture and more than a breathwork class.

It’s an opportunity to understand the mechanics, experience the movement, and explore the deeper relationship between breath and body through both education and embodied experience.

Learn the breath.
Feel the body.
Move beyond pain.
