Beyond Kino Presents: Stars of Little Importance by Renátó Olasz
About this Event
The Film
A group of old friends gather in a village bar the night before Christmas. Siblings who moved to the city. People who stayed. First loves who are now strangers. One long night, too much unsaid.
Minden Csillag (Stars of Little Importance) is the debut feature of first-time director Renátó Olasz, shot in black and white, without a screenplay, built almost entirely through improvisation. It's a film about the quiet distance between the people you were and the people you became, and whether the ones you grew up with can still truly meet you where you are now.
Executive produced by Béla Tarr — one of the most celebrated filmmakers, known for Satantango and The Turin Horse, who recently passed away — the film premiered in the competitive programme of the Sarajevo International Film Festival in 2025.
The Evening
After the screening, director Renátó Olasz will join us in person for a conversation about how the film was made, what it is about, and what it means to have made your first feature with Béla Tarr watching.
Olasz is not on a UK press tour — this evening at Genesis Cinema is a one-off. As always, we'll open the floor to the audience. Come with questions.
