Beyond Her Legacy: From Heritage to Leadership
About this Event
Beyond Her Legacy is an intergenerational community event that aims to celebrate the achievements, resilience and leadership of Caribbean & African women throughout history while empowering today's women and girls to become tomorrow's changemakers.
Delivered through the Beyond Sisterhood Sanctuary, a community initiative created by Beyond Braidz CIC that supports women and girls, particularly Black and ethnically diverse communities. The event will showcase heritage, wellbeing, creativity through exhibitions, storytelling, and community celebration..
This event is needed because many Black women and girls continue to be underrepresented within mainstream historical narratives despite their significant contributions to British society, education, and community leadership.
The event will hold online and in-person.
The Online Event: Sisterhood Story Circle - a safe space to empower women to reflect , capture and write their legacy for the future generation. There will be opportunity to share cultural learnings through empowering stories.
The In-person Event: Community intergenerational celebration
