This High-Level Luncheon and Conference aims to unite leaders who can embed ocean priorities firmly into climate governance.

As the global ocean agenda moves towards 2030 and beyond, there is an urgent need to ensure that ocean action remains politically relevant, inclusive and connected to implementation. Global processes such as the UN Ocean Decade, UN Ocean Conferences, Our Ocean, the UNFCCC Ocean and Climate Dialogue, the Blue NDC Challenge and the build-up to COP31 have helped elevate the ocean across climate and ocean policy spaces. However, the next phase must move beyond declarations towards delivery, finance, accountability and community leadership, ensuring that ocean action responds to the realities of coastal, island, Indigenous, youth and frontline communities whose lives, livelihoods, cultures and futures are deeply connected to the ocean.

The purpose of this event is to explore how global ocean and climate commitments can move from high-level policy spaces into community realities, and how governments, funders, civil society, scientists and communities can work together to keep the ocean agenda alive, impactful and politically relevant beyond 2030. The discussion will identify opportunities to strengthen ocean-climate action across key global spaces, including the Ocean and Climate Dialogue, Our Ocean, UNOC follow-up, the Blue NDC Challenge and COP31, while advancing implementation that is equitable, accountable and community-centred.
