An event by ernie&bert&elmo&grover This is a month-long, two-part winter cache hiding event to encourage us to get out of the house to hide and find caches during the cold winter months.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to hide one (or many) caches during the month of March. You are then also encouraged to find the caches hidden by others up until April 10. The deadline for hiding a cache is March 31 (but see caveat below). However, the earlier you submit your hide for publication, the likely more finds your cache will get and potentially more favourite points.
Cache hiding categories:
There will be one prize winner chosen at random in each of the following categories:
1. Winter-friendly hide
2. Large container
3. Gadget cache (on-site puzzle) or unique container/setup/hide
4. Non-traditional (eg: puzzle, multi, letterbox, earthcache, wherigo, or virtual)
[5] Plus the hide that earns the most favourite points (regardless of category) will also win a prize.
Please include the label “(H)IDES of March" or "[(H)OM]" in the title of your cache hide, and indicate in your cache description which category your hide is being submitted under. If no category is chosen, it will default to Category 1: Winter-friendly.
The more caches you hide, the better your chances at collecting a prize.
One prize per cacher. If you hid a cache during the event period, you are eligible for a prize. You do not need to be in attendance at this April 11 event to be eligible.
Please be generous with your FPs when you're out there finding (H)IDES OF MARCH themed caches from March 1 to April 10. Favourite points can be awarded up to the day before this event (April 10).
This is a Winnipeg-based and time-limited caching event, so let's try to allow cachers to find as many of these hides as possible by keeping the hides within a 10-minute drive from the Perimeter Highway.
Only caches with a hidden date between March 1 to March 31 are eligible.
You do not need to specify a date/time for the reviewer to publish your cache, unless you want to submit one now for publication on March 1. Caches may be submitted as normal throughout the month of March, however please allow up to 7 days for the reviewer to review your publication. This requirement essentially makes March 24th the final date to submit a cache for this event. (If submitting after March 24, it is solely at the discretion of of our great community reviewers whether or not a cache is published in time to qualify for this event. They have lives too).
Feel free to use the above Beware the (H)IDES OF MARCH logo in your cache description of any cache you hide during the month of March for this event, if you like. (Optional).
This is a cache hiding event that celebrates cache hiders. (“For without hiders there would be no finders”). As such, all the prizes are reserved for those taking the time to hide caches during the month of March.
We will gather together on April 11 for this event to celebrate the hiders and their caches, and hand out prizes.
