About this Event
Join us for a tour of Downtown Charlottesville exploring the stories of free Blacks during the era of slavery. Learn about the evolving nature of racial oppression, the rare times when the strict social hierarchy was not so strict, and those fascinating individuals who were able to exploit the cracks in the systems.
Tickets required. Tour begins in the front yard of the Albemarle County Court House, 501 East Jefferson Street. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours.
Image is of the Scott Family Home, which was located at the present-day corner of East Main St. and 2nd St. NE in Downtown Charlottesville (see https://cvillepedia.org/Robert_Scott for more information).
