The lives and dreams of young and older woman come together in this tale of female empowerment. As their paths converge, they are awakened to harsh realities, face fears, and under the watchful eye of a mythical matriarch, they navigate a maze of patriarchal and normative controls. Discovering connection, they find the strength to journey on towards their own unique and unbridled feminine power.
A captivating production with stunning large-scale projections, breath-taking aerial, poignant dance, and real-life tales told from the heart. Addressing experiences of hypervisibility for young and older women including for able and disabled women, Between Earth & Sky is groundbreaking in its unique weave of Irish sign language, spoken word and image, creating dynamic new theatre with embedded access. A visual feast with an original soundtrack, this is a production for our times with an important message told by a remarkable cast.
A new work by Undercurrent, Between Earth & Sky is directed by Kate Wilson. The performers are Robin Cara, Isolde Ó’Brolcháin Carmody, Lianne Quigley, Darren Byrne and Jenny Tufts. With an original sound track created and performed live by Aoife Hammond the performance includes visual design and projections by Milo Cummins, and lighting and prop design by Michael Cummins and dramaturgy by Jean Marie Perinetti. Irish Sign Language is an integral aspect of the performance.
