About this Event
Between Centuries: Chamber Works of Price & Schubert
Join Sacramento-based Romanza String Quartet for an intimate evening of chamber music that spans across a century. The program begins with Florence Price's String Quartet in G major, a piece with romantic sensibilities that highlights Price's connection to Black American folk music in the early 20th century. Then, rising cellist Dylan Jowell will join Romanza to perform Franz Schubert's Cello Quintet in C major. These are two deeply expressive works written 100 years apart, connected by their lyricism and emotional depth.
During the show, we’ll share a bit of history about each piece. Our goal is to make classical music more approachable and engaging. Whether you’ve been listening for years or are hearing it live for the first time, we invite you to come enjoy this special evening with us.
This concert is free* and open to everyone. It’s not always easy to come across live classical music in a setting like this, so if you’ve ever been curious, now is your chance to experience the music up close and personal. We're excited to see you there!
*Suggested minimum donation of $10 per person. Donations can be made on Venmo to @romanzastringquartet. All proceeds go towards the continuation of chamber music experiences (like this one!) for the Sacramento community.
