Keynote Address

Info: will give us an inspirational reason to invest no matter what the Market Direction— Especially down markets.

🕑: 09:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Reflections of a Life Long Better Investor (Intermediate)
Host: Cy Lynch

Info: Cy starts this session with a brief review of BetterInvesting’s four principles, how they’ve impacted his life and how he applies them as he invests. We’ll then shift to the Stock Selection Guide (SSG), starting with the proposition that not all sections of the SSG are equally important. We will explore various ways to project a low price. Then Cy will review SSG stock selection criteria (potential return, PE ratios, U/D ratios, price zones) sharing how his use of these has evolved over more than 40years of using the form.

🕑: 09:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Bridging the GAAP (Intermediate)
Host: Suzi Artzberger

Info: GAAP Data is the accepted accounting readings for a company’s performance. However, at time adjusted data or Non-GAPP numbers give a more accurate reading of a company’s performance. Suzi will discuss the “ins and outs” of these two metrics.

🕑: 09:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Machine Learning, Machine Churning
Host: Mark Robertson

Info: A Gateway To Awareness and Understanding of AI-Based Research

🕑: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Make Better "Sell" Decisions in Your Portfolio (Intermediate)
Host: Doug Gerlach

Info: Using the SSG and other BetterInvesting tools, it's possible to determine "optimal" buy and sell prices. Unfortunately, those prices often don't provide enough justification by themselves to make a confident decision. Stocks languish in the "maybe" zone. Weak company fundamentals make a stock appear to be too cheap to pass up. And stocks that have seen huge price run-ups may be approaching their sell prices on the SSG but still be prudently held in a portfolio. With a better understanding of the five distinct levels of valuation, investors can make better decisions about handling the under-, over-, or hyper-valued stocks in their portfolios.

🕑: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Investing in Turbulent Times: Making the Best of Uncertainty
Host: Cy Lynch

Info: We’ll first review past market cycles and note how they seem to be growing more volatile and rapid over the last several years. Then using a lessons learned approach, we’ll explore specific portfolio management techniques to help address uncertainty by maximizing gains in up markets, while minimizing them in down ones. Specific topics will include finding and using projected return for the market as a whole to guide our decisions, selling overpriced stocks and when holding cash is ok.

🕑: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Using Quarterly Data to Enhance Your Stock Analysis
Host: Suzi Artzberger

Info: Using the SSG to access PERT Report can be beneficial to your analysis

🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Lunch

Info: Award Prizes and Sponsor Presentation

🕑: 01:15 PM - 02:15 PM
Combating Megastockfluenza in Your Portfolio (All Levels)
Host: Doug Gerlach

Info: A winter case of the flu can make a person feel unfocused and unenergetic, unable to move off the couch or get out of bed. Numerous individual investor portfolios experience stagnation due to "megastockfluenza," a condition characterized by the inclusion of excessive slow-growth mega-cap stocks. These typically consist of well-known brand name companies operating in consumer and retail sectors that are perceived as safe investments. While there is a place for these stalwarts in a portfolio, overweighting in large- and mega-cap stocks can hold back portfolio returns over time. But treatment is available, and portfolio health can be greatly improved by focusing on better growth opportunities that are available in small and midsized company stocks. Learn the risks of focusing too much on the very largest companies in the market and how to improve portfolio returns and reduce volatility by boosting small and midsized stock exposure.

🕑: 01:15 PM - 02:15 PM
Warnings and Flags that are not in the SSG
Host: Suzi Artzberger

Info: An Example of Using Judgement to make your analysis more accurate

🕑: 01:15 PM - 02:15 PM
Ticker Talk

Info: Two Guys Talk Stocks - Mark Robertson and Cy Lynch provide their stock ideas and analysis

🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Investing in Faster-Growing Small Companies
Host: Mark Robertson

Info: An Update of our Small Company Experience.

🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Portfolio Diversification by the Numbers (All Levels)
Host: Doug Gerlach

Info: A golfer with only a sand wedge in his bag. An orchestra of only tubas. A football team of 22 wide receivers. A chef with a frying pan and no other cookware. If you can understand why these might occasionally be brilliant but generally not provide optimal outcomes, then you're on the way to understanding why diversification is important. BetterInvesting recommends that investors and clubs embrace diversification as a risk management technique. But how does it work? And how should it be implemented? It turns out that there is much research that supports the principles of diversification. Exploring the data and science behind correlation, volatility, risk, and return helps to understand why under-diversification is a problem, and how to best construct a diversified stock portfolio

🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Strategic Selling (Attendee should have familiarity with the SSG (Any Level)
Host: Cy Lynch

Info: Many followers of BetterInvesting methodology confidently use its tools to find stocks to buy but are far less sure of when to sell stocks. We will survey reasons for selling, including personal objectives, business fundamentals, stock valuation, and combinations of these. Against this background, Cy will help you develop a strategy for selling stocks to improve your overall portfolio performance.

🕑: 03:45 PM - 04:00 PM
