About this Event
Join Edward Miguel for a Berkeley Distinguished Faculty Lecture in the Social Sciences. Miguel, a Distinguished Professor of Economics and Oxfam Professor of Environmental and Resource Economics & Faculty co-director of the Center for Effective Global Action at UC Berkeley, will be speaking on the topic, "Do Cash Transfers Save Lives?"
In this lecture, Edward Miguel will present findings from a development economics research project based on a large-scale randomized controlled trial in Kenya that he and collaborators have conducted since 2014. The findings provide novel evidence on the broader impacts of cash transfers on the health and well-being of a poor rural population and illustrate the value of the experimental approach in development economics for public policy.
This in-person event will be held on the UC Berkeley Campus at the Alumni House, Toll Room and will follow evolving public health guidelines.
