About this Event
It has become very difficult to openly grieve the death of a loved one in today's society, and openly express grief feelings. Today's society is relatively unkind towards and impatient with the bereaved - keeping death, dying and grief at arm's length. It's a society that has become short-term, instant, and obsessed with solutions. The problem is that, with bereavement and grief, there is no solution.
Today's workplace has now become a key environment for those staff and colleagues returning to work after the death of a loved one. It can be a supportive experience or a distressing one. It's vital that the right language is used, that bereaved staff are listened to, and given the time and space to talk and express their feelings.
The workshop is for HR, Managers, OH Staff, Wellbeing Officers, Mental Health First-Aiders, and Union Reps. It examines best practices for supportin bereraved staff; highlights appropriate language to be used with them; provides an overview of Death, Dying and Grief in today's society; and offers experienced guidance for establishing caring and effective organisational Bereavement & Grief Policies.
