About this Event
Join us for a FREE talk by Jason Cherry, educator, historian, and research consultant for the William Trent House in Trenton, New Jersey.
Cherry's 2024 book and biography William Trent: Factor of Ambition was released and met with rave reviews from the CEO of the Heinz History Center Andrew Masich, 2013 George Washington Book Prize winner Stephen Brumwell, and most recently, by the Journal of the American Revolution. The foreword of his book was written by Founding Director of Benjamin Franklin House, Dr. Márcia Balisciano.
The genteel coach raced from Bristol as William Trent clutched the condition of land agreement he and others had previously signed with the Six Nations at Fort Stanwix in early November of 1768. When the "flying machine" arrived in London and reached its final destination at Charing Cross, Trent made his first stop along the Strand to Craven Street and the lodgings of Dr. Benjamin Franklin.
With treachery around every corner on the eve of the American Revolution, comes the untold story of shocking revelations, spies being unearthed and how Trent, Franklin and others from this Craven Street guest parlor reached His Majesty's highest court to charter a new colony in what was looked upon there according to witness Rev. William Hanna, "As a most Extraordinary Matter And what no American ever Accomplished before."
