Join us for a tasting of Benromach Speyside single malt whiskies at the Diggers as we celebrate the end of our year as Benromach Whisky Bar of the Year 2025. Our host for the evening is Fraser Souness from parent Gordon & MacPhail, the esteemed Elgin-based independent bottlers.

Founded in 1898 in the town of Forres, Benromach was saved from dereliction in 1993 when Gordon & MacPhail bought the distillery from DCL, and spent the next 5 years rebuilding the stripped-out distillery from the inside. Instead of taking the easy path to commercial success, making a light, easy-drinking Speyside stereotype, Gordon & MacPhail chose to revive a lost style of Speyside whisky - lightly peated, from an era before mains gas and plentiful electricity when peat fuelled the fires.

Likewise, our host Fraser also has a prestigious past, having worked for many years at the Scotch Bar in The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, and will bring with him a vast knowledge of the Scotch whisky world.
