Bennington Trailfest
Event information and details for thru-hikers can be found at: bit.ly/BennTrailfest
Trailfest activities on July 25th will be geared to both trail hikers and the greater Bennington community and will include free food, non-alcoholic beverages, live music, raffle prizes, trail skill demonstrations, and a free used gear swap offered by local recreation groups, massages, as well as our partners at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Green Mountain Club and Green Mountain National Forest.
Hikers along the A.T. and L.T. will be provided transportation to and from the Route 9 Trailhead on Saturday July 25 from 11 am to 3 pm, along with free camping on Friday and Saturday night. We are offering a free night for hikers at the Catamount Motel. More info on how to reserve a spot (starting on July 15th) can be found here: https://www.benningtonvt.org/services/parks___recreation/bennington_trailfest.php
Donations of usable outdoor equipment are underway for this year’s Gear Exchange. (PM us on how to donate starting July 1). All donated equipment will be available for your selection at the trailfest. There is NO cost for acquiring any of the equipment: freely donated - freely given. Boots, hiking poles, skates, skiis, maps, compasses, backpacks, kayaks, roller blades, clothing, jackets, tennis equipment, books, tents, bug spray, first aid kits, … use your imagination and donate your usable outdoor equipment to assist others in celebrating our great outdoors.
In addition, many local businesses are “A.T. Community Supporters” and provide discounts and services to thru hikers. Look for the Appalachian Trail Community Supporter sticker on business windows.
We encourage those that live close to the Bennington Skate Park to walk or ride a bicycle to the event, or carpool.
