Benjamin Beilman, violin and Steven Osborne, piano

Scottish pianist Steven Osborne makes a long-awaited return to Friends of Chamber Music’s series this time with the electrifying young violinist Benjamin Beilman. Thursday March 6 2025 7:30 PM Newman Center for the Performing Arts 2344 E. Iliff Avenue Denver. Beilman’s remarkable talent has garnered him numerous awards as well as a spot among the youngest faculty members of the renowned Curtis Institute of Music. Joined by Steven Osborne—a Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year—the duo will perform some of the classical world’s most prized works including Clara Schumann’s 3 Romances and Brahms’s Violin Sonata in G Major. The program concludes with the A Major Violin Sonata by César Franck a revered work in the chamber repertoire.

About Benjamin Beilman: One of the youngest artists to be appointed to the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music Beilman is the recipient of a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a London Music Masters Award. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music with Ida Kavafian and Pamela Frank and with Christian Tetzlaff at the Kronberg Academy. “Playing with rich sound and plenty of brilliance Beilman conveyed both dreamy lyricism and heated intensity” (The New York Times).

About Steven Osborne: Osborne’s numerous awards include The Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year two BBC Music Magazine Awards and two Gramophone Awards. Osborne was born in Scotland and studied at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh and the Royal Northern College of Music. He is Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Patron of the Lammermuir Festival and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2014. “Osborne is a poet of the piano. He is an introspective thoughtful musician.” (South Florida Classical Review).
