Known for his imaginative musicianship and cross-genre versatility, Barker’s relationship with the dulcimer began in his childhood in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, where a single encounter sparked a passion that would guide more than a decade of study and exploration. His dedication culminated in winning the 2021 National Hammered Dulcimer Championship at the renowned Walnut Valley Festival, placing him among the most compelling voices in the instrument’s contemporary revival. Now based in Greenville, Barker continues to expand both his artistry and the dulcimer’s audience.
