We've all heard of, and know, "the Muffin Man", but do you know "the Mongolian Meat Man"? The short answer is yes. A lot of you know Ray. Some know him as a chef. Most know him as a friend and brother. Everyone that knows Ray Ray know him as a happy-go-lucky pool player. The long answer is - most of us do not know Ray Ray. He's not even Mongolian (ha, who knew). We all picture him as that smiling, giggling guy who just loves to have fun playing pool, creating amazing dishes, and making those around him laugh. On a deeper level, we've let our outward views of him allow him to suffer, mostly, in silence. After working hard to crack him, this is what Ray Ray shared with me, and allowed me to share with you all...
"So in 2017 I was diagnosed with a rare case of hereditary iga nephropathy. They treated it with 8 months of chemotherapy and I was out for a year. After that year I maintained a level of 23 to 27% functionality on my kidneys. They couldn't move any further with dialysis or transplant until I was below the 20% functionality mark. At the end of September I was at 7%. And that's when I admitted myself back into the hospital. I thought yeah... I'll be back at work in a couple weeks. Then Halloween goes by. Then I'm like just a couple more weeks and I'll be good to go. Then Happy Thanksgiving! Just a little bit longer and I'll be back to work so I can buy presents for... 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!' missed that deadline... now here we are Happy 2025! I lost the better half of the year last year because of these dumb ass kidneys and I've been running on fumes from the jump! The medical bills are making my everyday life bills hard and my everyday life is making that harder for me. But I'm just trucking along the best I can. Keeping my prayers up and my faith as strong as I can."
He is currently on daily home dialysis, and right now, Ray Ray needs our help. It's time for the pool family to come together and help one of our own, just as we have done many times in the past. This benefit is to help Ray Ray with ANY needed expenses.
