Beloved Birth 5th Anniversary Party

Beloved Birth Black Centering is turning five! Over the past five years Beloved Birth has grown from a seed; a dream for a by us for us, community-centered solution to Black perinatal wellness. Partners across Oakland and Alameda County collaboratively poured into Beloved Birth, growing a midwifery-led perinatal care program rooted in love, respect, and a committment to implementing the strategies that we know work to finally move the needle on health disparities and support our Black birthing community to thrive.

This anniversary event is about gathering to honor Oakland's unique perinatal care transformation, reflect on the incredible impact that Beloved Birth has had on care experiences and birth outcomes in our community, and pour into ourselves and the next phase of Beloved Birth's growth. Together we will celebrate the seeds of innovation, joy, and love that have supported Beloved Birth to blossom into a beautiful and powerful solution for health equity and birth justice.

Food & Drinks:

Dinner and drinks are on us! We'll be serving delicious Afro-Caribbean and Jamaican dishes from Chef Nigel Jones of Uptown Oakland’s Calabash Restaurant.

Music & Dancing:

Enjoy an evening of soulful music with DJ Lady Ryan, and samba with Queen Jazz-Ylaine Baptiste of Samba Journeys.

Stories from Beloved Birth Families:

Beloved Birth Alumni parents will share stories from their perinatal journeys, and perspective on the impact of receiving care in Beloved Birth Black Centering.

Dress Code Theme (highly encouraged):

Think firmly rooted and growing... earth tones with lush foliage and floral prints... bold and celebratory. Express yourself and have fun with it!

Gifts & Gratitude:

All guests will leave with a take-home gift, and donation-based thank you gifts will also be available to support Beloved’s growth.
