Beloit College Mound Group Walking Tour Fri. Sept. 11, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., meet in the lobby of the Logan Museum of Anthropology at Beloit College, at the corner of Prospect Street and Bushnell Street. Join Anthropology professor Dr. Shannon Fie for a walking tour of the Native mound group located on Beloit College’s campus. Dr. Fie will share the history of the mounds, and current efforts to preserve and protect these prehistoric earthworks. The Beloit College campus features 20 conical, linear, and effigy mounds built between 400 and 1500 CE. One, in the form of a turtle, has inspired the symbol (and unofficial mascot) of the College. Rain plan: presentation about the mound group given in the Logan Museum’s Shaw Gallery.
