Chinese Never Die: Yan 宴, è il titolo della mostra del collettivo BEIMA, parte di IRA GENERANS, la stagione espositiva che esplora la rabbia come risposta necessaria e naturale alle ingiustizie e alle oppressioni, sociali e personali. Intesa come motore di resistenza e trasformazione, la rabbia diventa il fulcro di una riflessione collettiva, in cui artist* e collettivi legittimano la propria pratica come gesto politico e comunitario.
In cinese, yan significa “banchetto” o “festa”: un momento di incontro tra vivi e morti, di celebrazione e commiato. L’installazione di BEIMA prende forma attraverso un container sospeso e un tavolo da banchetto funebre, circondato da sgabelli rossi vuoti. Nessuno è seduto, eppure la scena conserva le tracce di una presenza condivisa, di un raduno invisibile. Il progetto è inserito nella più ampia ricerca Chinese Never Die, dedicata alla comunità cinese e alle sue rappresentazioni nel contesto italiano e occidentale. L’espressione afferma l’eternità di un corpo collettivo negandone l’individualità, riducendo vite, storie e lutti a presenze silenziose e produttive. BEIMA ne rovescia il senso, trasformandola in atto di resistenza e memoria, restituendo voce e complessità a chi è reso invisibile. Yan rappresenta il primo capitolo espositivo di questa ricerca, un’indagine sulla diaspora, sull’assenza e sul desiderio di appartenenza.
La scansione temporale dell’opera si ispira ai rituali funebri cinesi: l’anima impiega sette cicli di sette giorni per ritrovare la via di casa. Per un mese, spazioSERRA diventa dimora temporanea per le anime: un tempo di attesa, preghiera e trasformazione. Le azioni performative si articolano in sette giorni consecutivi di attivazione, seguiti da una settimana conclusiva dedicata al raccoglimento, durante la quale figure anonime agiscono come portatrici di memoria.

BEIMA /ˈbeɪmɑ/ è un organismo in continua metamorfosi, un’assemblea indefinita rappresentata da un collettivo di artist*. Il gruppo nasce dall’ideologia di confrontare il pubblico con la violenza e la complessità del presente, operando nel “terzo paesaggio”, uno spazio liminale dove performance, gesto e mondo si intrecciano in forme di espressione comunitaria. Attraverso il dialogo o la rottura, BEIMA mira a “sfidare, destabilizzare e provocare i sensi dello spettatore.”

Chinese Never Die: Yan 宴 is the title of the exhibition by the collective BEIMA, part of IRA GENERANS, the exhibition season that explores anger as a necessary and natural response to social and personal injustice and oppression. Conceived as a driving force for resistance and transformation, anger becomes the fulcrum of a collective reflection in which artists and collectives legitimize their practice as a political and communal gesture.
In Chinese, yan means “banquet” or “feast”: a moment of encounter between the living and the dead, of celebration and farewell. BEIMA’s installation takes shape through a suspended container and a funerary banquet table surrounded by empty red stools. No one is seated, yet the scene retains traces of a shared presence, an invisible gathering. The project is part of the broader research Chinese Never Die, dedicated to the Chinese community and its representations within Italian and Western contexts. The expression asserts the eternity of a collective body by denying individuality, reducing lives, stories, and griefs to silent, productive presences. BEIMA subverts this notion, transforming it into an act of resistance and remembrance, restoring voice and complexity to those rendered invisible. Yan represents the first chapter of this research, an inquiry into diaspora, absence, and the longing for belonging.
The temporal structure of the work draws inspiration from Chinese funerary rituals: the soul takes seven cycles of seven days to find its way home. For one month, spazioSERRA becomes a temporary dwelling for souls, a time of waiting, prayer, and transformation. The performative actions unfold over seven consecutive days of activation, followed by a final week devoted to contemplation, during which anonymous figures act as bearers of memory.

BEIMA /ˈbeɪmɑ/ is a constantly evolving organism, an indefinite assembly represented by a collective of artists. The group is unified by the ideology of confronting audiences with the violence and complexity of the present, operating within the “third landscape,” a liminal space where performance, gesture, and world intertwine in forms of communal expression. Through dialogue or disruption, BEIMA aims to “challenge, destabilize, and provoke the spectator’s senses.”
