The future economic forecast: We’ve teamed up with Brad Olsen and the team from Infometrics to deliver an analysis of the current economic climate, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of market trends, and economic indicators relevant to the construction industry. This session aims to help businesses make informed financial decisions and identify growth opportunities.

Futureproof your business – What you need to know on retentions and the ‘red flags’ in construction contracts: Recent construction company collapses, such as Armstong Downes, Compass Homes and more recently the Financial Markets Authority’s intervention in 66 Du Val Group companies and reported creditor compromises involving many others, are highlighting the pitfalls of the construction contract retention regime and the increasing need to take care when entering contracts with main contractors and developers. Currently the rate of liquidations in the construction sector is outpacing all other sectors, with 56 construction companies placed into liquidation in March 2024 alone with that trend set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Our legal partners, Jaesen Sumner and Sarah Churstain from Ford Sumner lawyers will provide an informative update on the retention’s regime, and give you tips on how to protect your business from construction company collapses.
