About this Event
Join us for a bike tour along Macon's Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, led by Bike Walk Macon, starting at Amerson River Park at 9:30am in the parking lot in front of Porter Pavilion (the giant white canopy that is visible from the front gate entrance). Bring your own bicycle and pedal through the newest sections with trail leaders Bill Causey, retired Macon-Bibb County Engineer, and Erin Keller from NewTown Macon. Bill will share behind-the-scenes insights into building the trail, discussing its challenges and successes. Erin will discuss the fundraising efforts that made the trail's expansion possible.
This leisurely ride will be at an easy pace, suitable for all skill levels. Learn about the trail's future plans through Vision Plan 2.0 maps during the ride and engage in a Q&A session to understand more about the trail's development and operations. We'll also address challenges, including how the massive I-16 and I-75 construction projects have affected some sections with temporary closures and alterations. Don't miss this unique opportunity to converse with the people who fund and build the trail, gaining first hand insights into one of Macon's most iconic and largest public spaces that enhances the community's quality of life. This tour is limited to 30 people, and tickets are $20.
