Christy Cote teaches tango at La Bruja, Wednesdays Sept 3rd through Oct 1st! Christy is a professional tango teacher who has been a central figure in Bay Area tango for many years. Join us for a fun, challenging class!
The beginner class is open to all levels. The intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes).
These classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers,” and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.
No partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class. We encourage everyone to sign up for all five classes, but drop-ins are also welcome.
Wednesdays, September 3rd- October 1st (5 dates)
6:45 pm: check-in
7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series
8:00-8:30 pm practica
8:30-9:30 pm intermediate tango series
9:30-10:00 pm practica.
The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediates may arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners.
$100 general admission (five classes, beg. or int.)
$25 general admission (single class, beg. or int.)
$15 student with ID (single class, beg. or int.)

Drinks are for sale at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge, across the hall from the ballroom. All ages are welcome in the dance classes.
We are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. For bike parking, use the bell to enter through the service entrance, and go straight to get to the back courtyard. No parking in the City Club lot. Street parking is free after 6:00 pm. Extra parking is available for $2 per hour at the Ellsworth Structure at 2337 Haste St. There is also parking at First Church, right across Durant from the Berkeley City Club, for a $10 flat fee (pay with qr code).
