SomaYoga is a trauma sensitive approach that offers student variance and teaching with compassion. The methodology uses:
+Somatics to efficiently and effectively create more mobility
+Therapeutic Yoga for stability and functional movement
+Classic Asana (postures) for stamina and strength
The Beginning SomaYoga series will introduce you to somatic yoga through the principles of learning to pay attention, building better habits, progressing well – progressing compassionately, and staying current & enjoying your freedom. You will explore a new approach to classic yoga asana that helps you learn more about your body and your mind, and keeps you aligned to your spirit.
This series is great for:
+beginners looking to start a yoga practice
+experienced practitioners looking for a new mindful movement approach
+trauma-sensitive populations looking for a gentle and compassionate yoga style
+those that have tried yoga, but the poses didn't feel right or postures were too strenuous or painful
+yoga teachers that want to explore a specific style of therapeutic yoga / yoga therapy credentials

Class #2 Focus: Building Better Habits
What You Will Learn:
+Spinal movements in relationship to pelvis and shoulder movements
+Using a therapeutic spinal strip
This second week we bring our focus to building better habits. You will visit spinal movements, pelvis and shoulder movements, and learn how to differentiate between them. We will also review details on the relationship of the spine and torso, and explore another foundational movement of Somatics: Arch & Curl.
Mindful somatic movements will be explored for mobility, along with postures like cow & cat, child's pose, forward fold, pyramid, chair pose, warrior I for stability and strength. We invite you into this practice that encourages finding the ‘just right’ movement and posture for your unique body, and personal freedom and agency is the exploration – which is fundamental for therapeutic benefit.
