Join us for a five-part Beginning Birding Workshop.
About this Event

This is a five-part workshop where you'll learn the basics of birding through a five-session workshop that aims to help you fly into the great hobby of birding with instruction that sets you up for a successful adventure in birding.

Session Dates and Subjects:

June 13, 2026 at 12pm - Beginning Birding Basics: Learn what birding is, how to use binoculars, ID guides, what to bring birding, and basic etiquette. Then test our skills with a short birding walk or indoor birding.

June 20, 2026 at 12pm - Beginning Birding Bird Anatomy: Learn the basics of bird anatomy that helps with bird identification and some bird behavior. Then take a short birding walk.

June 27, 2026 at 12pm - Beginning Birding Journaling: Why journal? We'll talk about why you might want to journal on bird walks and look at different journal options. Then we'll take a bird walk with time to journal.

July 11, 2026 at 12pm: Beginning Birding Community Science: This session we'll talk about how we can bird and help scientists study them! It's the best of both worlds. You can bird and help advance science at the same time!

July 18, 2026 830am: Beginning Birding Graduation Walk: We'll put our hard earned skills to the test with a final walk! We will combine everything we learned on a final walk at Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center.


You can attend any or all classes. Each class in $5 or you can sign-up for all classes for $20.
