❗REGISTRATION REQUIRED❗ 🐦 Join Thunder Bay Field Naturalists for a relaxed morning of beginning birding and looking for bluebirds in the beautiful Slate River Valley on Friday, May 8th. No experience or expertise is needed.
🚗 We will drive the back roads looking for some of the more common spring birds and some Slate Valley specialties – bobolinks, sandhill cranes, warblers and sparrows. As well, Sandy and John Barro will be with us to share information on the Thunder Bay Field Naturalists Club Bluebird program, which establishes nesting boxes and monitors bluebird activity all around the Thunder Bay area.
🗺️ The morning will consist of driving to a number of roadside stops, with very short walks along the roadsides. Trip leaders will be happy to share tips on all things birding: using field guides, good birding apps, what makes good binoculars and more.
We plan to finish off the morning at the Bakeshop on Boundary for a pastry (bring your own thermos of coffee or drink of preference).
🕗 Meet at 8:00 am, Friday, May 8th.
📍Parking lot at the Neebing Roadhouse on Highway 61. Car pooling can be arranged from there.
🧣 Dress warmly (in layers).
🔭 Binoculars are recommended (please advise when registering if you would like to borrow some TBFNC Binoculars).
❗This trip is limited to 20 participants.
