For students 18+, No prior experience or musical knowledge is necessary!
Are you regretting that you dropped out of band in 6th grade? Tired of grandpa’s old tuba taking up space in the attic? Looking for creative new ways to drive your family crazy? In the mood to meet some interesting people and have some fun making music together? Do we have the class for you!
In this course, veteran music educator Thomas Wilson will equip you to:
● Make good sounds on your instrument
● Read printed music
● Follow a director
● Play well with others
● Take up a second instrument, if you already play
This class is designed as a large, full-ensemble adult beginning band. We will be making music together as a group from the very start, learning the fundamentals in a supportive, well-structured rehearsal setting.
No prior experience or musical knowledge is necessary! All you need is:
● A band instrument in good repair.
○ That means a flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, or
snare/bell kit.
○ Contact Fremont Music in Lander if you need help getting your instrument into
playing condition.
○ No instrument? No problem! We are planning to have instruments available for
rental on opening night.
● A method book (Essential Elements Book One, available on opening night or from Fremont Music)
● Fifteen minutes per day of practice time outside of class
● A sense of adventure and a willingness to try
The class will culminate with a full-band performance for friends and family!
No instrument? No problem! Hill Music out of Casper will have instruments available for rental on openning night. We also have a grant through LOR to help financially with instrument rental or repair, so don't let that stop you!
Payment is due at the time of registration. Signing up for classes is available online, over the phone at (307) 332-3394, or in person at CWC Lander - 120 Enterprise Boulevard. Credit card payments, both through Eventbrite and CWC, are subject to processing fees. Cash or check payments are also accepted.
