Beginners Knitting 6 Week Course

Join us for our Beginners Knitting 6 Week Course with brilliant knitter Rachel Armytage to help you take that leap into learning to Knit in 2026.

This course starts Monday 5th January and runs every Monday until 9th February 10am - 12pm.

Knitting is such a fun and versatile skill to learn and there are so many things that you can make once you've learnt a few basic stitches. It is also a great hobby to have to help you relax and look after your everyday wellbeing.

In this course we will start from the very beginning, learning all the basics including casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch and casting off. We will be working towards making a sampler scarf that you can take home with you.

We will also introduce you to some simple patterns and send you off with all the skills and confidence you need to get started on a new project including links to our handy video tutorials.

All materials are included and you will leave with a knitted sample.

The course is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills.

Hot drinks and biscuits are included.

To ensure this Beginners Knitting Course is accessible to everyone we have made it Pay What You Can for the 6 week Course. We have suggested £60 to help cover costs but if this is not affordable for you then please input what you can. (When booking, please add a donation of however much you can afford for the 6-week course). Any donation is welcome. Stitch-Up CIC is a social enterprise supporting people of all ages to learn new skills, improve wellbeing and connect with others through craft & creativity.

Our studio is situated in Meanwood Community Centre. There is ample parking available at the Community Centre Car Park. If you cannot fit in the Car Park, please park on the main part of Stainbeck Avenue, with consideration to the residents please do not park in the cul-de-sac.
