Join designer-maker Lauren Holloway on this day workshop to learn how to sew a Japanese cross back apron. In this workshop Lauren help you to improve your dressmaking skills with this Japanese cross back apron sewing workshop. Known as ‘Maekake’, these practical aprons were traditionally used as a work garment and made from old sails for fishermen to wear whilst out at sea.
Over the course of the day, Lauren will expertly guide you through the process of creating your very own beautiful Japanese apron. This beautiful apron with a cross back and two large front pockets. You will learn how to cut out a pattern from your own fabric, how to use an overlocker and use interfacing. You will sew a variety of seams along with learning finishing techniques.
You will leave this workshop with a beautiful apron that is the perfect garment to serve you in your daily household chores, gardening or creative endeavours. Comfortable, absorbent and easy-to-wear, it is sure to be a wardrobe essential for years to come, representing the importance of making garments to last.
