The main topic explores these areas:

Understanding droplet size

  • Understanding droplet formation
  • Droplet size classification
  • Understanding coverage vs. droplet size
  • Volume Median Diameter (VMD)
  • The effect of air induction nozzles

Identifying nozzle size and type

  • Nozzle identification
  • Spray angle and coverage
  • LERAP – Low drift star ratings
  • Spray drift and effects of climatic conditions
  • Matching filtration to nozzle size
  • Review of nozzle technology, angled nozzles, twin-cap nozzles and air inclusion

The course will also cover

  • Numbers behind successful application efficacy
  • UK Pesticides National Action Plan (NAP) review
  • Herbicide resistance in the UK – Glyphosate resistance in ryegrass
  • HSE Pesticide Enforcement – what to expect during a visit

The NRoSO Handbook will also feature more information on nozzle selection and a few exercises to run through on the day.


Key information:

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your session
  • Delegates must sign the register for their NRoSO CPD points.


Pricing:

Face-to-face training - Registration will cost £75.00 (Inc VAT) per delegate. This will secure your place at the venue and include refreshments, plus a printed NRoSO workbook.


What will delegates receive on the day?

3 hours of face-to-face, classroom training, complemented with the 66 page 2025-26 NRoSO Handbook, packed full of all the information you need to keep UK crop protection safe and responsible.

Throughout the course, discussion and sharing of ideas and experiences are encouraged.

This workshop will attract 10 CPD points for National Register of Sprayer Operators (NRoSO) members and 8 CPD points for BASIS members.
