Do you want an entry-level lesson on sewing and garment construction? Do you have a sewing machine but are uncertain how to use it?
Join us for a hands-on introductory course that will teach you the foundational skills needed to construct simple textile items. This class is perfect for the aspiring sewist who is curious to try sewing or the self-taught sewist who would like to increase their knowledge and technical skill set.
Only 5 places!
Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers.
Students will:
-Pick two of the following to cut & sew:
- Reusable paper towels (up to 2 sets; 12 each set)
- Reusable face pads (up to 2 sets; 7 each set)
- Apron (up to 2)
- Reusable floor sweepers (up to 5)
-Learn sewing vocabulary, including sewing machine parts and apparel construction terminology;
-Learn how to thread and operate a conventional sewing machine, including troubleshooting common issues;
-Receive instruction on how to read a commercial sewing pattern;
-Learn basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction; and
-Receive a complimentary Rightfully Sewn sewing pattern for all 4 items to continue sewing at home.
