Beginner-level Figure Drawing Class: Full Body Focus

This class includes a mix of :30 gestural drawings, 1 min, 5 min and 10 min poses followed by a final 20 min pose. The class has one model who will be nude during each pose. All phones will be collected at the start of the class and available during breaks.

Materials will be provided, which include:

• 14x17 Newsprint paper pad
• Lyra graphite crayons/sticks (2B, 6B, 9B)

Full Body Focus

After this class you will be able to draw the entire figure with a basic understanding of all its different parts and begin the process of drawing the figure within settings and environments.

Instruction topics: Utilizing all the information of the previous classes, the human figure can now be represented and perceived as a system of shapes and forms interacting together. Visual materials include preliminary drawings of famous representational figure paintings followed by a demo of drawing figures within a designated space or “setting”. There will be an emphasis on the concept of proportions and foreshortening as drawing elements in accurately depicting the body in perspective.
