Glass beadmaking, more popularly known as lampworking, is the process of using a hot flame to melt small, colorful rods of glass. Once the glass is in a molten state, it is shaped with special tools.
Learn about the materials needed and how to safely use a torch as you practice making two different types of round glass beads with frit (crushed glass). Finished beads will be kept by the instructor overnight to be annealed in a kiln for hardness and durability.
You will be able to pick up your beads on campus a few days following the class.
