Beginner Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing Clinic

The Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association (LOTSA) is excited to offer a Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing Clinic on Sunday Febuary 16, 2025 during the 2025 Greater Niagara Fishing Expo, February 13–16, 2025. This school is taught by LOTSA members with years of experience in all aspects of trolling for Chinook Salmon (Kings) on Lake Ontario. The focus of this school is to provide the Beginner thru Intermediate Angler with the knowledge that they need to dramatically decrease the learning curve to be able to catch more Lake Ontario Kings.

This Clinic covers the following:

• Basic Boat setup for a smaller boat (16 - 24 ft)
• Understanding King Salmon
• Basic Electronics
• Basic Fishing gear and equipment needed
• How to use Downriggers, Divers, and Long Lines
• Understanding the impacts of Speed, Temperature, Currents & Wind
• Thermocline and Bait, what it means to you
• Where to Fish in Spring, Summer, and Fall
• Tackle and Lures (Spoons, Flasher Fly and Cut bait rigs)
• Planning your Trip
• Safety on the Water
• Proper Fish Handling plus Catch and Release

After attending the Clinic, participants will have the knowledge to catch more Kings during 2025 while saving "Tackle $$" by purchasing the “right” equipment and baits!

Registration Information

While admission to this school is free with general admission to the Expo, pre-registration is required to ensure a productive, hands-on learning environment for all students. Seating is limited and will be closed when the class reaches capacity.

The school will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, February 16 th , 2025.

Registration also includes admission to the Expo on Sunday February 16th.
