About the workshop
This workshop introduces key elements of improv theater including agreement, setting, joke, justification, and relationship. Improvisers initially construct an average, non-humorous setting – defined by the assembly of location, relationship, and event – that is later inverted by an unusual pattern that forms the joke of the scene. Your actors will learn how to improvise scenes without a script or outline using the following three principles:
1. Always agree and add
2. Have a reason for everything your character does and say it out loud
3. Frame whatever the other actor is doing like it’s a picture
Improvisational acting can boost self-esteem, promote confidence in public speaking, ease anxiety in social interactions, promote team building and cohesion, and other valuable leadership skills.
