About this Event
Join printmaker and illustrator for a relaxed and welcoming lino printing workshop, where you’ll design, carve and hand-print your own set of beautiful bookmarks.
Perfect for book lovers, curious beginners, and creatives looking to try something new, this session offers a calm and encouraging introduction to the art of relief printmaking. No prior experience is needed!
You’ll be guided step-by-step through the full lino printing process, from transferring your design to carving safely and confidently, before inking up and pulling your final prints by hand. During the workshop, you’ll learn helpful tips and tricks to help you make the most out of the lino printing process.
Inspiration images will be provided on the day, but you’re very welcome to bring your own ideas if you’d like to personalise your design. Finished bookmarks will measure 55mm x 170mm, so if you’d prefer to sketch beforehand, please ensure your design fits within those dimensions, leaving a 5mm border around the edges.
To finish, you’ll be able to choose a ribbon colour to adorn your bookmark - a small but lovely detail to make it uniquely yours.
At the end of the workshop, there will be the opportunity to purchase a beginner-friendly relief printing starter pack so you can continue carving and printing at home. Alternatively, a full materials list can be emailed to you so you can source tools in your own time.
Studio Hagstone workshops are rooted in thoughtful making and shared creativity. Expect a friendly atmosphere, small-group guidance, and some handprinted bookmarks at the end of the session that you designed yourself!
