Beginner-Friendly Lesson Series: Ballroomin' with Lindy & Brenda

This lesson series is perfect if you're brand new to Blues dancing or are looking to dive deeper into the Ballrooming' side of Blues dancing. This lesson series is designed to get you ready to dance to the Ballroomin' music you'll hear at North Star Blues (especially from our Saturday live bands)! Your instructors this month with be Brenda Mora-Pallares and Lindy Bowen.
This month, we’re focusing on Blues dances that came out of ballrooms, dance halls, and other city/urban spaces that had more space to travel and dance a bit fancier. These dances often coexisted alongside swing dances like Lindy Hop—same venues, same people. Some of the ballrooms where these dances were born & danced were the Savoy in New York City, the Graystone in Detroit, The Parkway & Chicago Savoy in Chicago. Ballroomin' Blues dances travel around the dance floor and tend to have more swing and sway.
These lessons will be located in the dance studio at the North Dale Recreation Center, just a 5 minute drive from The Blues Saloon where there is a free Blues jam every Tuesday until 11 pm. It's a great spot to go practice your dance skills on the dance floor. We hope you'll head over with us!

We greatly appreciate people who register ahead of time! At-the-door signs ups for the entire series will be available on August 18th only for $50. We will not allow sign-ups later in the series as the class material is progressive.
