Get cozy with some beginner basketry skills and master the blanket stitch.
About this Event

In this class, participants will learn how to create a basket using cording, rope, and found materials that are all held together with the blanket stitch. We will go over materials, how to make cording, and variations on basket shapes. Then we will create our basket using a coiling technique and hand stitching. No experience is required.

All materials are included, but students can bring any fabric, yarn or thread materials from home to include in their baskets for a personal touch.

PLEASE NOTE: Students will complete a small bowl basket project in this class and learn the skills necessary to create larger baskets.

About the teacher:

Lauren O'Neill is a school librarian by day and an artist by weekend. When she isn't teaching about libraries, theatre, and puppetry at school; she can be found cutting up old materials and recycling them into fine art collages, basketry, and home decor items.
