Life is busy and filled with all types of movements and body postures that could flare your lower back pain. Ever notice a zing in your lower back while picking your baby up from the crib? Maybe you’ve noticed low back discomfort after a long walk out with friends? Or, if you’re like most people, you might have an achy low back while sitting on the couch watching your favorite movie.
Instead of “pushing through” your pain and discomfort this fall, or avoiding movement out of fear, why not befriend your back with simple, pleasurable movements drawn from yoga and physical therapy?
Dana Podell, a physical therapist and yoga therapist, has created this series to help you live with a healthy and happy low back, regardless of your age or fitness level.
What You'll Learn in 4 Weeks
Session 1: Basic low back anatomy to demystify your lower back so that you can finally understand the root cause of your pain. Movements to activate your lower abdominal muscles which provide support for your lower back to reduce low back discomfort during your day to day activities. Healthy postures for the low back so that you can stand and sit with ease.
Session 2: Yoga based movements to address disc degeneration and sciatic nerve pain so that you can finally get relief from nagging nerve pain through therapeutic exercises.
Session 3: A deep dive into the connection between the hips and lower back through a series of hip opening & strengthening movements so that you can prevent lower back pain flare-ups in the future and reduce any current lower back pain symptoms.
Session 4: Discovering your low, low back. Yoga based movements to address sacroiliac joint pain and special considerations postpartum so that you can finally understand the source of your back pain and (if necessary) prevent low back pain postpartum so you can enjoy your time with your baby instead of worrying if you will be able to pick them up out the crib.
