Before the Ice Cream Wars: Organised Crime in Postwar Glasgow
About this Event
Dr Mark Roodhouse (University of York) examines the historical development of serious and organised crime in Glasgow between 1945 and 1979 before the rapid growth of illegal drug markets in the 1980s transformed the city's underworld.
Mark works on the economic and social history of modern Britain, taking a keen interest in black markets and underground economies. His first, award winning book, Black Market Britain: 1939-1955 was published by Oxford University Press.
