About this Event
Beeston Fixers, are a group of volunteers, who want to help you learn to repair your broken items. We believe that there are many items which can be repaired, rather than be replaced, or thrown away.Where possible we like to 'Share the Repair' and involve you in the fixing. So we ask that you stay with the item whislt it is being fixed. This way you can learn how similar items could be fixed in the future.
BOOKING APPOINTMENTS :
- Appointments are limited to ONE per person, per repair cafe. So only book ONE Eventbrite slot per repair cafe. (Additional items, maybe seen on a standy basis, but there is no guarantee).
- Most SLOTS are 30 mins long, so if you bring an item to fix, which goes over this time, the fixer may have to ask you to return with the item to be completed at the next cafe.
- If possible, bring anything you can which will help us fix your item - e.g. if you need a new button, please bring the button along with you, and we can show you how to mend your item with it.
- How to book: Look through the ticket types on Eventbrite and book in for the fix type and time slot you require. Remember to only book ONE ticket, per person, per repair cafe.
- Take note of your appointment time! - As sometimes, the time is not clear on your ticket.
- Textiles slots are for clothing repairs, or if you haveafabric item whch needs sewing. These slots are to mend items, not to alter them, as this often takes longer than 30 mins.
- Electrical item repairs: If you are booking a repair for an electrical item, you need to email us at [email protected] in advance with details about the item, including the make, model, and the problem. For battery operated items whch do not have a plug, book a general item slot. SORRY but we can NOT repair TVs or microwaves.
- General repair slots: our general repair fixers are happy to look at any household items which are broken – fixes are not always guaranteed but advice may be given
Additional information:
- We welcome adults and accompanied children, but do not allow pets (except assistance dogs).
- A fix is not always guaranteed, but we will do our best.
- If we cannot fix your item, we may be able to advise you on how to fix it yourself in the future.
- There is a "pay as you feel" cafe serving refreshments.
- There will be a plant/seed swap also going on - so feel free to bring plants/seedsto swap. If you have nothing to swap with you can still take items for a donation of your choice.
- Please note there is NO clothes at this cafe - this will be at Beeston fete which is happening on the same day.
- Due to COVID safety measures, please do not attend the repair cafe if you have any symptoms.
