Beef and Liberty!!
Join the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada for our very popular fundraiser dinner, which will be fashioned after the popular Sublime Beefsteak Society of England. The dinner will take place at Navy Hall on Thursday November 5, 2026, and will include a steak dinner, live music, an auction and great entertainment provided by the Celtic Cross Duo (Tom Keefer and Michael Miskuly)
Started in the 1700s, the Beefsteak Society came to symbolize patriotic and liberal concepts of prosperity. It is the oldest surviving dinner society in Britain. Throughout the 19th century, the club included royalty such as George IV, statesmen, military leaders, actors, artists such as William Hogarth, musicians and writers.
The Beefsteak society would meet weekly, and members would wear a blue coat and buff waistcoat with a brass button bearing a gridiron motif and the words “Beef and liberty”. The steaks and baked potatoes were accompanied by port or porter. After dinner, the evening was given up to noisy revelry.
We hope you will join us for a special evening of food and merriment. The cost: $125 for members; $135 for non-members.

A charitable receipt will be issued for a portion of the ticket price following the event.
