About this Event
This workshop explores mental health, ways to protect wellbeing, and available supports when personal strategies are not enough. It examines barriers that prevent people from seeking help and challenges participants to become changemakers in dismantling stigma and harmful beliefs around mental health. The session also highlights the “Walk to the Lighthouse” as an example of how community action is helping reduce stigma, one step at a time.
Meet Melanie Walker MSW, RSW – Social Worker
Melanie Walker is the Intake Coordinator, DBT Therapist and Professional Practice Lead for Community Mental Health at Joseph Brant Hospital where she has worked for the past 24 years. She has a private practice where she helps clients better manage a variety of mental health concerns.
She has a strong interest and investment in mental health both professionally and personally.
