Red Boots Roots regulars have had many chances to see Becky Shaw on the RBR stage, with her wonderful bands Just Roxie (and Roxie Watson), as well as a frequent contributor the Sonia Tetlow Friendsgiving Spectacular. Having Becky perform with her sister, Dawn Shaw Patrick, promises to be an incredible night of music and friends.Becky Shaw is the rare artist who has mastered the art of reinvention while staying true to herself. The Decatur, Georgia-based singer-songwriter has spent three decades
building a career on versatility, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to authentic expression. A true multi-instrumentalist, Shaw plays guitar, drums, flute, harmonica, lap steel, accordion, and piano. Her songs blend folk, old country, Americana, rock and roll, and classical influences into something uniquely her own—melodic, introspective, and emotionally resonant. Her lyrics explore themes of connection, belonging, love, and loss
with the kind of raw honesty that transforms listeners into believers. With new recordings in the works and performances scheduled across the country, Becky Shaw continues to prove that the most compelling artists are those who never stop exploring,
never stop growing, and never stop showing up fully for the song.
Dawn Shaw Patrick (Becky Shaw’s sister), a violinist and songstress based in Mendham, NJ, blends pop, jazz, country, and rock into captivating solo violin and vocal performances across the NY/NJ/PA area. She regularly performs at restaurants, bars,
weddings, private parties, and events. In addition to her solo work, Dawn is a member of the female-fronted band Wilma, the jazz-groove trio Delta & the Honeys, and the neo-
speakeasy trio Lo, the Dawn, alongside her Wilma bandmates. Dawn is also an active collaborator within the NJ music scene, performing with local singer-songwriters and bands such as Spare Tire Band, Groove Gangstas, and The Toll Collectors. She has also taken part in live local productions of The Last Waltz and Pink Floyd’s The Wall.
Growing up in the Northwest, Becky & Dawn were surrounded by music – their mother was a flute and piano teacher, their dad an accomplished singer, and everyone in their
extended family could sing and harmonize. Becky and Dawn grew up singing together, but since they were almost six years apart, they didn’t start collaborating musically until much later. Now, despite living in different states, they have recorded together and
share the stage whenever they can. Dawn has played multiple shows with Becky and with her band Just Roxie, including sitting in at the Bluebird Café, the Variety Playhouse, and Eddie’s Attic. Becky sits in with Dawn’s group “Wilma, the Band”
whenever she gets up to New Jersey, and the duo is recording some new songs in 2026. With Becky on guitar and Dawn on violin, they’ve got that rare, lucky Sister Blend of voices and instruments, based in something rich and intangible and deep.
